Waltrop (DEU), Altes Schiffshebewerk Henrichenburg

canal ship lift/elevator dedicated by Kaiser Wilhelm in 1899 and used in the old lock of 1914;became inactive 1970, when the new (1962) canal ship-elevator was inaugurated. (a new lock replaced the old one in 1982 .) This first, old ship lift belonged to nearby Henrichenburg, (at the SW end of the locks) , but after its retirement in 1970, it became a historical industrial monument and is now part of the nearby Westfälisches Industriemuseum Altes Schiffshebewerk Henrichenburg aka Museum des Schiffshebewerks Henrichenburg, located at the NE end of the locks. "Das Oberwasser" refers to the stretch of the canal here: where the Dortmund-Ems Kanal meets the Zweigkanal.
