Note
- Date: 1722
Note d'application
- Kammerherr Joachim von Ziegler und Klipphausen, chamberlain for August der Starke, converted the old moat castle into a baroque castle, which housed Stift Joachimstein, home to 12 poor, single Protestant noblewomen. After plans by Oberlandbaumeister Johann Friedrich Karcher and Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann. Palace/Stift was dedicated in 1728. Was used as a Damenstift until 1945, when the women were exiled, and the palace plundered; renovated 2003. (Maybe some day we will need Stift Joachimstein as a term, so I didn't UF it to this.)
