Concept information
Preferred term
polyspermy
Note
- Sub-zonal injection of spermatozoa (SZI) has two major limitations. The first is the variable and relatively low fertilization rates that are routinely achieved, and the second is the high level of polyspermy (fertilization of the egg by two or more spermatozoa) that can result when multiple spermatozoa are injected into the perivitelline space.
