Concept information
Preferred term
reconstructed embryo
Entry terms
- reconstituted egg
Note
- In the presence of a high level of MPF activity the transferred nucleus undergoes nuclear membrane breakdown and chromosome condensation. It has been argued that the developmental potential of reconstructed embryos depends upon the "reprogramming of gene expression" by the action of cytoplasmic factors and that this might be enhanced by the prolongation of this period of exposure.
