Definition
- Paramyxoviridae is a family of negative-sense, single-stranded RNA viruses in the order Mononegavirales. Vertebrates serve as natural hosts; no known plants serve as vectors. Currently, Paramyxoviridae has four subfamilies, 17 genera, and 77 species, three genera of which are unassigned to a subfamily. Diseases associated with this family include measles, mumps, and respiratory tract infections. (Wikipedia)
