- Human orthopneumovirus (also known as human respiratory syncytial virus, or HRSV, or just RSV) is a virus that causes respiratory tract infections, with the infected cells of the mucosa fusing together to form a syncytium. It is a major cause of lower respiratory tract infections and hospital visits during infancy and childhood. (Wikipedia)
