  • A mitochondrion (/ˌmaɪtəˈkɒndriən/; pl. mitochondria) is a double-membrane-bound organelle found in most eukaryotic organisms. Mitochondria generate most of the cell's supply of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), used as a source of chemical energy.
