- A telomere (/ˈtɛləmɪər/ or /ˈtiːləmɪər/, from Ancient Greek: τέλος, romanized: télos, lit. 'end' and Ancient Greek: μέρος, romanized: méros, lit. 'part') is a region of repetitive nucleotide sequences associated with specialized proteins at the ends of linear chromosomes.
