- Renal replacement therapy (RRT) is therapy that replaces the normal blood-filtering function of the kidneys. Renal replacement therapy includes dialysis (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis), hemofiltration, and hemodiafiltration, which are various ways of filtration of blood with or without machines.
