- Tablets, sometimes of silver, or boards, usually decorated with a Christian religious representation, that is kissed first by the priest and then by members of the congregation [AAT]; may also be made of gold, wood, rock crystal or ivory; in Italy, sometimes took the form of ornate shrines; may also refer to other liturgical objects used for the same purpose
