- Combined software and hardware systems that relate and display collected information concerning phenomena associated with location relative to the Earth; often have the ability to overlay temporal information or information related to geology, ecology, weather, land use, demographics, transportation or other data on top of existing geographic base data; the data are typically presented in the form of maps or tables, displayed in color on a computer screen or printed out [AAT]
