- Dutch artistic movement, founded by Theo van Doesburg, 1917, and lasting until the early 1930s; advocated the use of pure abstract form to express the universal in art [AAT, alt.]; in addition to van Doesburg, inculded Mondrian, Huszar, Oud and the poet Kok; there is a periodical of the same name
