Definition
- Events at which motion pictures are exhibited to showcase new work or the work of a particular genre, era, nation or film artist. They often feature discussions, panels, seminars and presentations by the filmmakers, film artists, or film critics or scholars. They frequently recur at regular intervals and last for several days or weeks. Some but not all are competitive and give awards. [AAT]
