- Porcelain for both everyday and tea ceremony use, manufactured in Kaga province, now part of Ishikawa prefecture, 1655-1704 and again 1807 to the present; older productions are typically tableware in dark overglazed enamels varying from dull to shiny with coarse-grained bodies; later productions feature more eclectic, colorful and intricate designs [AAT, alt.]
