Definition
- Refers to the portable shrine, used for worship, erected by the Israelites in the wilderness; it housed the Ark of the Covenant and was where Moses met with God; it was dismantled and carried with them when they moved to a new location, where it would be reassembled; when they entered Canaan, it became a permanent fixture at Shiloh
