Definition
- Style of Arita porcelain made from the beginning of the 18th c. onwards, named for the port of Imari from where it is shipped; characterized by dense, crowded decorations based on native textiles and brocades, painted in several colors, typically with a blackish underglaze and strong blues and reds [AAT]
