- French painting, 1920s and 1930s; a reaction to then current, modern movements such as Surrealism and Cubism; essentially an attempt to bridge modernism with academicism with an emphasis on normally perceived reality; unofficially led by Dunoyer de Segonzac; included Robert Lotiron, Raymond-Jean Legueult, Charles Dufresne and Luc-Albert Moreau [AAT, alt.]
