Definición

  • A "liquid fire", known in antiquity, but first used on a large scale by the Byzantines, who mounted bronze tubes which emitted jets of the substance from the prows of their galleys and the walls of Constantinople; it burst into flame on contact and was reputed to be inextinguishable, burning even on water; exact ingredients remain unknown
