Iconic turn
Définition
- “In 1994 two professors, one in America and one in Switzerland, independently from each other, described the pictorial turn of human sciences. W. J. T. Mitchell introduced the phrase ‘pictorial turn’, while Gottfried Boehm used the expression ‘ikonische Wendung’, that is ‘iconic turn’ in the discourse dealing with pictures and texts. The term was inspired by Richard Rorty who in 1967 had characterized the history of philosophy as a series of turns..." http://www.svabhinava.org/abhinava/SrinivasRao/IconicTurn.php
