- Sculptural works that create surroundings that the viewer can enter; most often indoor installations [AAT]; areas of 3-dimensional space pre-programmed or mechanically energized in order to enclose the spectator and involve him in a multiplicity of sensory stimulations, sometimes with a deliberate intention to create a sensory overload in order to disorient the senses; planned with a view to force the spectator to participate [Oxford XX]
