- Figured silks fashionable throughout Europe, ca.1695-ca.1720; woven according to an extremely wide range of exotic designs composed mainly of swaying and tropical-looking floral and foliage motifs, offset by sharply jagged lines and rectangular architectural and other motifs; dominant pattern usually in gold or silver thread [DDA 89]
