Definition
- A phenomenon where microorganisms communicate and coordinate their behavior by the accumulation of signaling molecules. A reaction occurs when a substance accumulates to a sufficient concentration. This is most commonly seen in bacteria. Inhibition of quorum sensing (signaling molecules) by degradation enzymes.
