Definition
- Compounds consisting of chains of AMINO ACIDS alternating with CARBOXYLIC ACIDS via ester and amide linkages. They are commonly cyclized. Peptolides forming 16-membered macrolides, composed of two ester linkages, two amide linkages and seven asymmetric centers. They have been found in CYANOBACTERIA and are TUBULIN MODULATORS.
