Definition
- A plant family of the order Ebenales, subclass Dilleniidae, class Magnoliopsida that are tropical trees which have elongate latex cells. Several members bear sweet edible fruits and produce triterpenoid saponins. Argan oil from seeds is consumed raw in the southwest part of Morocco. A genus that has triterpenoid saponins in the root.
