Definition
- The use of balloon CATHETERS to remove emboli by retraction of the balloon that is inflated behind the EMBOLUS. The use of a Fogarty catheter, a type of balloon catheter that was invented to perform an EMBOLECTOMY by pulling the embolism out of the blood vessel by retraction of the inflated balloon behind it.
