Definition
- A plant family of the order Zingiberales, subclass Zingiberidae, class Liliopsida. It includes plants which have both flavoring and medicinal properties such as GINGER; turmeric (CURCUMA), and cardamom (ELETTARIA). A plant genus. The root used in Thai cooking. Members contain CHALCONES.
