Definition

  • Abnormally low BODY TEMPERATURE that is intentionally induced in warm-blooded animals by artificial means. In humans, mild or moderate hypothermia has been used to reduce tissue damages, particularly after cardiac or spinal cord injuries and during subsequent surgeries. Body temperature of a patient is induced to 80-89 degree F or 27-32 C. Body temperature of a patient is induced to 91-95 degree F or 33-35 C.
