- A species of the genus SAPAJUS, subfamily CEBINAE, family CEBIDAE, consisting of tufted capuchin monkeys with characteristic black head cap and sideburn coloration with tufts of dark fur above the ears. S. apella was known as Cebus apella and C. a. apella.
