Definition
- A plant genus of the family APIACEAE that is a source of coniine. Conium maculatum is a large toxic umbelliferous plant, which contains the alkaloid coniine which affects the nervous system. The dried, fully grown, unripe fruit has sedative, anodyne, and antispasmodic effects.
