Viral Replication Compartments

Type

  • mesh:Descriptor

Definition

  • Sites in the host cell where the virus induces the formation of cellular assemblies for the replication of the VIRAL GENOME. Cytoplasmic, virus-induced double-membrane structures, derived from ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM or GOLGI APPARATUS, that house the replication and transcription enzyme complexes of NIDOVIRALES and PICORNAVIRIDAE. Cytoplasmic, virus-induced membrane structures, derived from host cell organelles, that house the replication and transcription enzyme complexes of POSITIVE-STRAND RNA VIRUSES. Subnuclear compartments formed from a reorganization of the nuclear architecture induced by BACULOVIRUSES. Double-membrane vesicles that are interconnected by their outer membranes and where coronavirus transcription and replication occur. They are derived from and contiguous with the ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM.
