Definition
- Analog or digital communications device in which the user has a wireless connection from a telephone to a nearby transmitter. It is termed cellular because the service area is divided into multiple "cells." As the user moves from one cell area to another, the call is transferred to the local transmitter. Small, handheld, one-piece CELL PHONES. A large, CELLULAR PHONE with handset, transceiver, antenna, and optional battery, packaged together in a carrying case. It is plugged into a car cigarette lighter or can operate off a portable battery. Type of CELLULAR PHONE installed in a car, truck, or van. This phone is attached to the vehicle and draws power from the vehicle's battery.
