Definition
- Practical experience in medical and health-related services that occurs as part of an educational program wherein the professionally-trained student works outside the academic environment under the SUPERVISION of an established professional in the particular field. A collaboration between experienced practitioners and less experienced practitioners. The relationship is characterized by regular, systematic and detailed exploration of a supervisee’s work with clients or patients, with the aims to improve clinical practice, enhance capacity to meet professional standards, and provide support and encouragement to the supervisee.
