Definition
- Methods or programs of physical activities which can be used to promote, maintain, or restore the physical and physiological well-being of an individual. A form of exercise, based on the teachings of Joseph Pilates (1880-1967), redesigned for rehabilitation after musculoskeletal injuries. It focuses on body mechanics, posture, and strengthening of the core (back and abdominal) muscles.
