Definition
- Controlled physical activity which is performed in order to allow assessment of physiological functions, particularly cardiovascular and pulmonary, but also aerobic capacity. Maximal (most intense) exercise is usually required but submaximal exercise is also used. A set of nine physical fitness tests for flexibility, speed, endurance and strength developed by the Council of Europe for school age children and adults. The tests are performed within 35 to 40 minutes using very simple equipment.
