Definition
- A genus of gram-positive BACTERIA in the family Gordoniaceae and phylum ACTINOBACTERIA. It is isolated from soil and from sputa of patients with chest disorders. It is also used for biotransformation of natural products. In its most common form, Gordonia bronchialis, it is known as a rare cause of eye infections such as chronic INFECTIOUS ENDOPHTHALMITIS.
