Definición
- A family of high molecular weight GTP phosphohydrolases that play a direct role in vesicle transport. They associate with microtubule bundles (MICROTUBULES) and are believed to produce mechanical force via a process linked to GTP hydrolysis. This enzyme was formerly listed as EC 3.6.1.50. Dynamins that contain an alanine in position 44 instead of lysine. The amino acid substitution causes the protein to be GTPase-deficient and unable to function normally in the cell. GTPase-deficient dynamins are used experimentally to study dynamin function.
