Genetic Association Studies

The analysis of a sequence such as a region of a chromosome, a haplotype, a gene, or an allele for its involvement in controlling the phenotype of a specific trait, metabolic pathway, or disease. Genetic variants (specific mutations or allelles of genes) and their corresponding phenotypic variations in the trait or the disease which the genes controls. The verification of association of a candidate gene with a specific trait, metabolic pathway, or disease; and which mutations of a candidate gene are associated with the disease. The determination of genes suspected to be associated with specific traits, metabolic pathways, or diseases.
