Définition
- A technique of respiratory therapy, in either spontaneously breathing or mechanically ventilated patients, in which airway pressure is maintained above atmospheric pressure throughout the respiratory cycle by pressurization of the ventilatory circuit. A ventilatory mode delivering CONTINUOUS POSITIVE AIRWAY PRESSURE with a time cycled change between an upper and lower airway pressure level, allowing unrestricted spontaneous breathing throughout the ventilatory cycle.
