line broadening
Definición
- Line broadening is a widening of the absorption lines and emission lines in a spectrum due to any of several factors. These include Doppler broadening, caused by movements within the emitting gas, pressure broadening or the Stark effect, due to collisions between atoms and molecules, and the Zeeman effect, due to a strong magnetic field.
