Definition

  • Verificationism holds that a meaningful statement or a legitimate belief is one that is verifiable by experience. It has its roots in the empiricism of David Hume (1711–1776) and the positivism of August Comte (1798–1857), and it branches out into classical American pragmatism and logical positivism.
