communication theory of identity
Definition
- The communication theory of identity (CTI) brings, as the name implies, a communication perspective to understanding identity. The theory widens the lens on identity—changing the focus by viewing it as layered (i.e., multiple levels), dynamic (i.e., the interaction among layers of identity), and enacted in communication.
