  • California v. Cabazon Band of Mission Indians, decided by the United States Supreme Court on February 25, 1987, was the impetus for the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988. The specific questions presented in Cabazon were whether California and Riverside County in that state could apply their laws limiting bingo gaming to charities, setting maximum bingo prizes, and otherwise regulating bingo and draw poker, to facilities on the Cabazon and Morongo reservations.
