  • Thyroid diseases are a class of diseases resulting from dysfunction of the thyroid, an important endocrine gland. The principal function of the thyroid, a dou-ble-lobed structure located in the neck, is to produce the hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which regulate growth and metabolism in the body.
