- Ice hockey is a competitive team sport in which opposing teams try to score on each other; a point is scored when a team advances the puck into the opponent's goal. Teams rely on physical traits, such as strength, agility, and fitness; on cognitive traits, such as intellect, planning, and creativity; on spatial-temporal reasoning; and on strategies to attack and defend collaboratively.
