- World War II Navy Field Commander Adm. William Frederick Halsey, Jr., called “Bull” Halsey in the press, was a famed U.S. Navy field commander in the Pacific theater during World War II. Admired for his fighting approach to command and his outspoken hatred of the Japanese enemy, Halsey held several crucial commands during the war.
