quality of work life

Definition

  • Discussed since the 1950s, quality of work life (QWL) has been identified as a personal reaction to the work environment and experience such as perceptions of control, satisfaction, involvement, commitment, work–life balance, and well-being in relation to someone's job and organization, with no one generally accepted definition of the term. As such, it has been criticized for being a vague catchall concept. [Source: Encyclopedia of Industrial and Organizational Psychology; Quality of Work Life]
