Definition
- Hot spots are specific places where a large proportion of crimes are committed, or specific sites within a particular area where a high level of fear of crime is concentrated. A hot spot of fear is defined as a place where users of the space (e.g., those who walk around or through, sit in, play in the space) report high levels of fear due to three distinct site features: prospect, refuge, and escape.
