elite theory

Definition

  • While people generally consider leadership to be a good thing, a thing worth improving, the same cannot be said for elites. Especially in democracies, people tend to recoil from the whole notion of elites, thinking of them as repositories of privilege or as cabals plotting to overthrow institutions.
