American Communist Party

Definition

  • IN 1919, VLADIMIR Ilyich Lenin invited the Socialist Party of America to join the Communist International (Comintern), the international organization of communist parties and movements. Yet, tensions among right-wing socialists and more radical socialists and anarchists led Socialist Party leaders to purge the radicals in an attempt to regain control over the party membership.
