  • The study of earthquakes and other seismic phenomena, including the study of earth structure (global seismology), detailed investigation of the structure of the crust and outer mantle using artificially generated seismic waves (exploration seismology), earthquake prediction and the study of the record of earthquakes through time (Palaeoseismology).
